EVE Online - Establishing The Story Of New Eden

When lots of outsiders think of eve echoes isk, I'm willing to wager that the first thing that comes to mind are the stories told of New Eden's Capsuleers -- the player pilots who compose the history of the secondary universe. More often than not, even when people in the media accounts an EVE story, it's talking only about the escapades of a participant or Corporation doing something astonishing.

But beneath the sandbox gameplay is the fabric of New Eden -- a story of Empires and, most recently Invasions.

The frame of EVE Online is based in its own lore -- something that does not get talked about enough when talking the long-running MMORPG. And he is definitely not promoting the MMORPG brief. Story threads which connect players with the world around them are being put years in advance -- and following 17 years in existence, EVE Online knows how to allow for the story seeds to be sown. Players in many games often question and come up with notions about where a story is going in an MMO.

However, with EVE Online, every action a player makes may have the potential to change not just their particular gameplay at the moment, but spiral into something important down the road.

"I joined CCP ten decades back," Bergur continued,"and that I combined the EVE Online team in 2014. The Drifters were actually one of the first things I worked on in EVE. And my kind of greatest pet peeve when I started in EVE was that the fact that I constantly felt that, you know, you had the match -- the amazing EVE Online world and interactions here. And PvE and Missions -- that they kind of sat outside, it did not matter that some of the articles existed outside -- it did not matter that some of the content existed.

You could kill the exact same rat , again, again, and again and it didn't affect the universe in meaningful ways. So I felt just like these elements were missing form the story telling aspect of EVE."

Therefore, going back to 2014, if you've been paying attention, you can start to find the seeds of this storyline that is still going on today. These narrative threads are not just strengthened by CCP themselves, but researched, dissected and discussed among the community as I alluded to earlier. But even CCP get in on the action, like the Scope, an in-game news cast that discusses important story beats and updates from the perspective of an in-game information team.

Some new players might be remiss in thinking this was player created, but infact it is from CCP themselves.

And it doesn't just include tough details about the upgrade or narrative beat it was designed to market -- keen eyed players could just see a few of the conspiracy theories they have discussed also take a look -- a direct line from the community discussion of the lore and the team that creates the game. Currently, according to Bergur, there are"dozens and dozens and dozens of available ended storylines," and while many things are touched on directly by CCP and the community, Bergur cites there are even more things that buy EVE Echoes Items players have not seen as well.
